Brockport Holds Off Roanoke 69-64 in Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic

The Lead: The College at Brockport knocked off Roanoke 69-64 behind 21 points from Hannah Rehbaum during the final day of the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic on Friday.

How it Happened:

  • The Maroons were led Bridget Holleran with 20 points. All-tournament selection Cary Beahm scored 18 points in the loss for RC.
  • The Maroons made 38.7% of their shots, connecting on 24-of-62 attempts on the day. Roanoke was 15-of-24 from the free-throw line and dished out 10 assists as a team, led by Holleran who had five helpers to go along with four steals.
  • In addition to Rehbaum's 21 points, Baily Pratt and Faith Welch each had 10 points in the win. Rehbaum and Lindsay Johnson each grabbed seven rebounds to help Brockport to a 47-42 edge on the glass. The Golden Eagles made 37.3% of their shots, making 25-of-67 attmpts from floor.
  • Roanoke led after 20-19 after the first quarter and then with the score 23-23 with seven minutes to go in the half, the Maroons went on a 10-2 run, taking a 33-25 lead on an Allison Livengood basket with 1:45 to go.
  • RC took a 33-27 lead into the locker room at intermission then stretched its lead to 41-31 when Jamella Foster knocked down a jumper with 7:37 to go in the third quarter.
  • Brockport responded with a 17-7 run to tie the game 48-48 at the end of third then scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter, pushing ahead 56-48 on a bucket by Pratt with 7:18 to go in the game.
  • The Golden Eagles led by 11 at 61-50 with just over three minutes to play. RC rallied and made it a two-point game following a jumper by Holleran that made it 64-62 with 44 seconds to play.
  • After forcing a Brockport turnover, RC had a chance to tie the game but missed a shot on its ensuing possession and Brockport converted 5-of-6 free-throws in the final 14 seconds to seal the game.
