The Lead: Emory & Henry outscored Roanoke 20-7 in the third quarter to break open a tight game en route to a 65-50 ODAC Women's Basketball win on Wednesday.
How it Happened
- Roanoke was paced by Cary Beahm's 12 points and 12 rebounds and Ellen Wagner who had 10 points.
- Emory & Henry was led by Taylor Blevins who had a game-high 14 points and 12 rebounds. Megan Jacoby chipped in with 10 points and dished out five assists.
- RC shot 31.1% for the game, making 19-of-61 shots. Emory & Henry made 41.2% of its shots, connecting on 21-of-51 attempts from the field. E&H won the battle on the glass 46-31 led by Blevins and Tessa Johnson who had nine rebounds.
- With Emory & Henry leading 5-4, the Wasps scored nine unanswered points, taking a 14-4 lead on a Jacoby three-pointer with just under three minutes to go in the first quarter.
- E&H led 16-8 after the first and then extended its lead to 24-12 three minutes into the second quarter on a Jada Penn three-pointer.
- RC battled back reeling off 15 of the next 18 points cutting the Wasps lead to just three at 30-27 following a free-throw by Jamella Foster with a minute to go in the half.
- A Foster three-pointer made the score 34-31 with 7:39 left in the third quarter. The Wasps would score the next nine points and finished the quarter on a 17-3 run to push ahead 51-34 heading into the fourth quarter.
