The Lead: Taylor Casey led four Washington and Lee players in double-figures as the Generals topped Roanoke 93-75 Saturday afternoon in Salem.

How it Happened

  •  Cary Beahm posted a double-double for the Maroons with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Bridget Holleran had 12 points, while Chris Martin and Allison Livengood each came off the bench to score 16 and 14 points, respectively.
  • Emily Perszyk had 17 points and Ailyn Kelly had 16 points for the Generals. Andrea Ferrero chipped in with 13 points. Kelly grabbed 13 rebounds and Ferrero snared 10.
  • The Maroons shot 39.7% for the game as they made 29-of-73 shots. Washington and Lee made 46.2% of its shots, knocking down 30-of-65 attempts from the field. W&L drained 12-of-25 three-pointers in the win as well.
  • With the score tied 10-10 with three minutes to go in the first-quarter, the Generals went on an 8-2 spurt to hold an 18-12 lead at the end of the first.
  • A Martin basket made the score 34-27 Generals with 4:34 to go in the half. W&L would then use a 10-2 run to push its lead to 44-29 with 1:51 to play.
  • Roanoke battled back with by scoring eight of the final 12 points of the half to send the teams to the locker room with W&L leading 48-37.
  • The Generals would put the game away by starting the third quarter with a 12-2 run that was capped by a Andy Smithey jumper that made the score 60-39 with 6:16 to play.
