The Lead: Randolph held off Roanoke for a 72-61 ODAC Women's Basketball win on Wednesday night in Salem.

How it Happened:

  • Roanoke was led by Cary Beahm who had 15 points and was one of three Maroons with seven rebounds on the night. Chris Martin had 11 points for RC and Jasmine Agee chipped in with 10 points of her own.
  • Randolph was led by a game-high 18 points from Lauren Moore. Danielle Rizzari had 14 points and Jacqueline Hockman had 10.
  • RC shot 34.4%, making 21-of-61 shots from the floor, while Randolph made 28-of-59 (47.5%) shots on the night.
  • A Martin jumper made the score 7-7 with 6:13 to play in the first quarter before the WildCats finished the opening frame with a 13-3 run to hold a 20-10 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.
  • Randolph stretch its lead to 12 in the second quarter before RC rallied with the score 34-24 by going on a 7-0 run that was capped by a Martin layup with a minute to go in the half, making it 34-31.
  • Randolph led 37-33 at the break then opened the second half with an 11-4 spurt with a Danielle Rizzari three pointer making the score 48-37 half way through the quarter.
  • RC responded by using a 10-3 run of its own to pull within three at 50-47 following a Beahm jumper with just over a minute to go in the third.
  • The WildCats led 55-47 heading into the fourth quarter but RC was able to cut its deficit to five when a Martin three-pointer made it 64-59 with four minutes to play.
  • That would be as close as RC would get as Randolph scored eight of the final 10 points to seal the win.
