Big Fourth Quarter Run Sends E&H to 93-84 Win Over Roanoke

The Lead: Emory & Henry used a 17-2 run  to open the fourth quarter to break open a tight game and top Roanoke 93-84 on Wednesday.

  • Roanoke was led by Cary Beahm with 27 points. Allison Livengood had 22 points, while Allison Yeaw and Bridget Holleran had 14 and 13 points, respectively for Roanoke. Beahm also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
  • Emory & Henry got 21 points from Taylor Blevins. Kara Stafford had 15 points, Sydney McKinney had 12 and Tessa Johnson chipped in with 11. Stafford and Peyton Williams each had seven rebounds to help the Wasps to a 37-30 edge on the glass.
  • Roanoke made 27-of-57 (47.4%) shots from the floor, but E&H had made 51.6% of their attempts from the field and were able to convert 24 RC turnovers into 29 points on the offensive end of the floor.
  • In a game that saw 13 ties and 21 lead changes, Roanoke led 27-24 after a first quarter of play in which RC made 9-of-14 shots as Beahm and Livengood score nine points apiece
  • In the second quarter, RC made 4-of-10 shots but Stafford scored 11 points in the quarter to send the teams to the intermission knotted at 46-46.
  • With the score tied at 58-58 halfway through the third quarter, RC scored eight of the next 10 points, taking a 66-60 lead after three straight points by Beahm.
  • Emory & Henry then scored 13 of the final 19 points of the quarter to lead 73-72 after three.
  • The Wasps then opened the fourth quarter with a 17-2 run that was capped by a Blevins basket that made the score 91-74 with just over five minutes to go in the game.
