Hopson Named ODAC Player Of The Week

For her play last week, Whitney Hopson has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Last week Roanoke traveled to San Juan to compete in the Puerto Rico Basketball Classic. The Maroons claimed wins over Elizabethtown and Illinois Tech, pushing their record to 6-3 on the season. Hopson scored 12 points to go with three rebounds, five assists, and a steal in a 10 point win over the Blue Jays. In a blowout win over Ill. Tech, Hopson added eight points on 4-5 shooting as the Maroons cruised to the 56-25 victory. For the week the sophomore point guard posted 20 points, six rebounds, 10 assists, and four steals. The Mechanicsville native shot 66.7% from the field (10-15) while helping to account for 30% of RC's points in the pair of non-conference victories. For the season, Whitney is 9th in the ODAC with 3.2 assists per game and 2nd in the league with 2.8 steals per game.
