Three Maroons Earn All ODAC Honors

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced the 2020-21 Women's Basketball All-ODAC awards on Tuesday afternoon. A trio of Maroons were honored by the conference. 

Whitney Hopson, Kristina Harreland Renee Alquiza represented Roanoke on the All Conference team. 

Hopson, a junior guard, finished the season as one of the conference's best point guards. Hopson handed out an ODAC best 48 assists, 3.7 per game while posting a conference best 35 steals, 2.7 per contest. Hopson, a 2019 Third Team All ODAC selection, averaged 7.4 points per game to rank fourth on the team. For her efforts, Hopson was also named ODAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year.

Harrel, a senior guard, earned all conference honors for the second consecutive season after being named Third Team All ODAC in 2020. Harrel was third on the team and top 30 in the conference with 9-9 points per game. Harrel was second on the team with 5.4 rebounds per night and finished 12th int he conference by making 72.9% of her free throws.

Alquiza earned all conference honors for he first time in her career at Roanoke. Renee averaged a team high 11.5 points per game, good enough for a top 20 finish in the ODAC. Alquiza hit 46.7% of her field goals, including 42.2% from the three-point line, fourth in the ODAC. In addition to scoring, the junior forward averaged 5.2 rebounds per game as well as 18 blocked shots, ranking her second in the conference.
