The Lead: McDaniel scored the first seven goals of the game then had to hold off a furious second-half comeback by Roanoke to top the Maroons 12-11 on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
- Lindsey Farrell scored to put McDaniel up 7-0 with 16:46 to play in the first-half.
- Morgan Barlow scored twice in less than two minutes to get RC on the board and make it a 7-2 game.
- The Green Terror scored back-to-back goals before Katie Clements tallied a goal with six seconds left to send the teams to the break with McDaniel up 9-3.
- RC came out in the second-half and got a goal from Courtney McCartin five minutes in, then back-to-back goals by Barlow made it a 9-6 game with 21 minutes to go.
- Hannah Taylor tallied a goal to pull RC within two at 9-7 with just over 14 minutes to play.
- McDaniel upped its lead to 12-9 with 4:35 to play before Sarah Kroneberger scored to make it 12-10 with 4:16 on the clock.
- Mckenna Polak scored for RC with just 18 seconds to play to make it 12-11, but RC was not able to get the equalizer.
- RC outshot McDaniel 29-19, including 16-8 in the second-half.
- Barlow led RC with five goals, while Kroneberger had two.
