The Lead: The Roanoke Women's Lacrosse team fell to Rowan Saturday afternoon by the score of 13-9 in Glassboro, N.J.

How it Happened

  • The Maroons were led by Allison Beames who had three goals on the day. Courtney McCartin, Mckenna Polak, Sarah Kroneberger, Hannah Taylor, Katie Clements and Morgan Barlow also registered goals for Roanoke as well.
  • Rowan was paced by Maddie Bray who had four goals on the day. Jess Havers added three goals for Rowan, while Danielle Hubbs, Ali Herbert and Liz Kramer each had a pair of goals.
  • Rowan outshot RC 26-23 and held a 17-12 edge in groundballs. The Profs won the draw control battle 17-7 led by Herbert who grabbed eight.
  • With Rowan leading 2-0, McCartin got RC on the board at the 26:37 mark of the first-half.
  • A Bray score sparked a four goal run by Rowan as the Profs took a 6-1 lead with 18:30 to go in the first-half.
  • Beames scored at the 17:06 mark, followed by a Polak goal with 14:12 to play that made it 6-3.
  • Rowan scored back-to-back goals to push its lead to 8-3 before RC got scores from Kroneberger and Clements late in the half to cut the RC deficit to 9-5 at half-time.
  • Roanoke opened the second-half scoring with a goal from Beames to make it 9-6, before Rowan scored back-to-back goals.
  • The Maroons rallied getting three unanswered goals with a Barlow free-position strike making it an 11-9 game with 7:40 to play.
  • That would be as close as the Maroons would get at the Profs scored twice down the stretch to seal the game.
