The Lead: Roanoke scored 16 first-half goals en route to a 22-8 ODAC win over Virginia Wesleyan on Senior Day in Salem.
How it Happened:
- Katie Clements scored two goals in just over a two minute span and Courtney McCartin scored to make it 3-0 with 24:32 to play in the first-half.
- With the score 5-2 RC, the Maroons went on a 5-1 run, taking a 10-2 lead on a Mckenna Polak goal with 12 minutes to play.
- VWC cut its deficit to 10-4 before the Maroons scored six of the final seven goals of the half, capped by a Katerina DeSimone strike with just 20 seconds to play, making the score 16-5 at the half.
- Allison Beames and McCartin scored to open the second stanza and push the Maroon lead to 18-5.
- McCartin scored five goals and dished out three assists in the win. Beames also had five goals, while Clements had four and DeSimone had three. Emma Boris finished with six groundballs and eight draw controls.
- RC outshot VWC 41-14. in the contest
