The Lead: Shenandoah scored with 1:36 left in regulation to take a 7-6 win in the ODAC Quarterfinals Wednesday evening.
How it Happened:
- Shenandoah jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Annie McCorry and Brittany Arndt at the 24 and 22 minute marks.
- Roanoke responded with back-to-back goals just one minute apart as Mckenna Polak and Katie Clements found the back of the net to make it a 2-2 game.
- Jacque Hemler scored off an Abby Zorrilla pass with just 17 seconds left in the first half to give the Hornets a 4-3 lead headed into the intermission.
- Roanoke went on a 3-0 run to start the second half sparked by a goal from Julia Galanto with 27:19 on the clock to make it 6-4 RC.
- Shenandoah evened the game with goals from Zorrilla and Hemler to make it 6-6 with 12 minutes remaining in regulation.
- With 1:36 on the clock, Zorrilla scored the game-winner to give SU the tournament win.
- Clements finished with two goals for Roanoke. Emma Blair made nine saves, including five in the second-half.
- RC outshot SU 24-22 and held an 11-4 edge in draw controls, led by Emma Boris who snared five.
- Hemler had three goals for SU, while Kiera Lane made 10 saves for the Hornets.
- Roanoke closed the season with a 6-11 overall and a 6-2 conference record.
