The Lead: Roanoke scored the first 12 goals of the game and never looked back as the Maroons topped Penn-State Abington 21-4 Saturday morning in Salem.

How it Happened

  • Maggie Lewis had four goals for the Maroons, while Mckenna Polak, Hannah Taylor and Ellie Armstrong each had three goals for Roanoke. Polak also had two assists to tie Lewis for a game-high five points in the victory.
  • PSU-Abington was led by Allison Felicetti who had two goals.
  • Armstrong scored at the 27:33 mark to get RC on the board and it proved to be the first of six goals in less than five minutes for the Maroons to open the game.
  • Michaela Mast got PSU-Abington on the board with just over six minutes to play in the half before the Maroons would score three times in the final four minutes, capped by a Lewis goal with 50 seconds to go that sent the teams to the intermission with RC up 15-1.
  • Sarah Eisele opened the second-half scoring to make it 15-2 before RC reeled off three straight goals, taking an 18-2 lead on a McKenzie Kapp goal with 12:17 to go in the game.
  • RC held a 32-13 edge in shots and had the groundball advantage at 18-5. RC also led in draw controls 20-7 led by Katie Clements who had 12.
