The Lead: Roanoke scored 13 goals in the first half en route to a 22-3 ODAC win over Guilford Wednesday evening in Salem. 

How it Happened:

  • Katie Clements broke open the scoring just under three minutes into the game with a goal off a free position shot to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Roanoke tallied a pair of goals 10 seconds apart with one coming from Ellie Armstrong followed by one from Maggie Lewis.
  • Madison Iandoli got Guilford on the board with its lone goal of the half at the 12:38 mark.
  • Roanoke closed the half with eight unanswered goals, highlighted by back-to-back tallies from Lainey Decker at 7:15 and 5:13, to head into the intermission with a 13-1 advantage.
  • Clements and Armstrong scored to open the second half to make it 15-1 with 20:48 left in regulation.
  • With the score 15-2, Jenn Schwechheimer sparked a 6-0 run capped by a goal from Decker.
  • Roanoke outshot Guilford 46-8, held a 22-8 advantage in ground balls and won 18-of-25 draw controls. For GC, Sarah Sedaghat made 14 saves in the first 56 minutes.
  • Lewis led the way with six goals followed by Decker and Clements with four. Carly Schoudel made three saves in goal.
