How it Happened

  • With SU leading 1-0, RC got back-to-back goals from Emerson Foster and Clements to take a 2-1 lead with 20 minutes left in the first-half.
  • The Hornets would go on a 4-1 run, taking a 5-3 advantage on a goal by Emma Stiffler at the 11:40 mark.
  • Jenn Schwechheimer scored with 7:28 to play to make it 5-4. Lilly Blair then scored to tie the game, before Schwechheimer closed out the first-half scoring and sent RC to the locker room up 6-5.
  • The Maroons came out and got the first two goals of the second half as Molly Kasemeyer and Clements gave RC an 8-5 lead.
  • With RC leading 8-6, the Maroons went on a 4-0 run with a Hannah Taylor strike giving RC a 12-6 lead with 13 minutes to go.
  • The Hornets would rally by scoring three goals in just over a three-minute span with a Cassie Arndt goal pulling SU to within three at 12-9 with 8:18 to play.
  • That would be as close as Shenandoah would get as Clements scored less than a minute later to put RC on top 13-9.
