The Lead: A matchup between Top 20 teams saw No. 3 TCNJ come away with a 16-9 win over the No. 18 Roanoke women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon on the road.

How it Happened/Highlights:

  • The two teams traded goals throughout the first quarter with the Maroons getting goals from Tiernan Connor, Kate Loughran, and Soria Ebert.
  • TCNJ was able to extend their 4-3 lead after the first period by scoring the first three goals of the second before Lilly Blair scored a woman-down goal off an assist from Maddie Stopkoski. Two more TCNJ goals hit the scoreboard before Nicole Harrison pulled Roanoke back within four at halftime, 9-5.
  • The third quarter saw the home team begin to pull away by outscoring the Maroons 5-1, with the lone Roanoke goal scored by Libby Bowman at 7:30.
  • Goals by Harrison and two by Grace Koutouzis cut the lead down to six with 4:39 left in the game, but a Lions goal with 1:38 gave TCNJ the final 16-9 win over the Maroons.
  • Roanoke forced TCNJ into a season-high 21 turnovers, including 10 in the fourth quarter.
