The Basics:
Event: 2023 Jim Crytzer Invitational
Location: Lexington, Va. – Washington and Lee University
The Lead: The Roanoke wrestling team saw 17 wrestlers reach podiums at the 2023 Jim Crytzer Invitational on Saturday. The one-day event was hosted by Washington and Lee University in Lexington. Josh Noble claimed the title at 125 lbs. to lead the Maroons.

RC highlights:
- 125 lbs. – Noble won both of his matches by fall to claim the title at 125 lbs. Stephen Bowden also reach the podium with a 5th place finish.
- 141 lbs. – Nick Kauffman went 3-2, falling in the 3rd place match in sudden victory, 7-5, to finish fourth.
- 149 lbs. – Andru Boyd went 5-1, including an 8-7 decision in the 3rd place match. Colin Neal (5th) and Lucas Day (6th) also claimed spots on the podium.
- 157 lbs. – Andrew McDougal picked up two falls and a tech fall en route to a 2nd place finish at 157 lbs. William Kennedy went 2-2 to finish fourth in this weight class.
- 165 lbs. – The Maroons went fourth through sixth at 165 lbs. with David Reid, Jack Campbell, and Jack Bobeck, respectively, all reaching the podium.
- 174 lbs. – All three wrestlers at 174 lbs. placed with Kyle Lee reaching the title match to finish runner-up. Josh Epperly and Steven Martinos reached the fourth and sixth spot on the podium, respectively.
- 197 lbs. – Cam Cavins won his first two matches before falling in the title match to finish second at 197 lbs. Wyatt Sage picked up a tech fall in his opening match before finishing sixth.
- Hwt. – Brady Elswick dropped his first match before bouncing back with a tech fall and a fall to claim 3rd at 285 lbs.

- The Maroons have a quick turn as they travel for an ODAC at Southern Virginia on Wednesday, January 11. The first match with the Knights is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Buena Vista.
