Parenteau Scores Two in Win over Emory & Henry
EMORY, Va. --- Stephanie Parenteau (Virginia Beach, VA, Kellam) scored two of Roanoke's three goals in a 3-0 win over conference-foe, Emory & Henry Tuesday evening. The Maroons, winners of seven-straight, improved its mark to 9-3-1, including a conference-best 6-0 record in ODAC play.
The Maroons, who now have five-straight shutouts, blanked their opponent for the 10th time this season. The 10 shutouts already surpass the entire 2009 season total and one behind the 2007 team with 11. Roanoke now improves its record to 13-1 in the series against the Wasps.
Parenteau got the scoring underway off an assist from Jessica Welfare (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) midway through the first half to take the 1-0 lead. Katelyn LePore (Troutville, VA, Lord Botetourt) then scored against her former school for her fifth goal of the season just five minutes later.
Just before the first half came to a close, Welfare connected with Parenteau again to give the final result for her team-best seventh goal of the season. It was Welfare's first two assists on the season.
Lindsay Kooiman (Fredricksburg, VA, Mountain View) finished with one save on the night for Roanoke.
The women return to action this weekend as they travel to Harrisonburg, VA to take on ODAC-rival Eastern Mennonite on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
