Suttora Scores Two in 5-1 Win Over Eastern Mennonite
SALEM - Junior Cindy Suttora (Long Island, NY, Our Lady of Mercy Academy) scored a goal in each half of play in Roanoke's 5-1 win over Eastern Mennonite in ODAC women's soccer action Saturday. The Maroons improve to 9-3-1, 5-2 ODAC while the Royals falls to 2-12, 2-5 in ODAC play.

The Maroons scored early in the first half as Suttora received a header from Stephanie Parenteau (Virginia Beach, VA, Kellam) that found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. Suttora found the back of the net one more time in the 58th minute as she headed the ball off a pass from Kara Kapell (Trumbull, CT, Trumbull).

Suttora's second goal opened the floodgates as the Maroons scored two more goals in the next three minutes. Rebekah Adams (Springfield, VA, West Springfield) blocked a goal kick and placed a well struck ball in the left side of the net for the 3-0 lead. Parenteau scored just 1:04 later as she dribbled into the box and found the right side of the net. Roanoke would strike once more in the 80th minute when Devon Harrell (Nahant, MA, The Governor's Academy)came in from the right side of the box to pick up the goal.

Eastern Mennonite was not going to be shut out however, as Kelsey Zook lofted a shot over the goalkeeper from about 40 yards out in the 82nd minute.

After the Maroons 5-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite, they now hold a 10-3-2 lead in the all-time series results with EMU. Roanoke outshot the Royals 23-3 and led in corner kicks 4-0.

The Maroons will return to action on Oct. 12 as they travel to face ODAC leader Lynchburg. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
