Five Maroons Earn All-Conference Honors in ODAC Poll

Five Maroons Earn All-Conference Honors in ODAC Poll
FOREST, Va. - Five Women's Soccer players earned 2011 ODAC All Conference honors announced Tuesday, November 8. Carmen Graves and Maya Kantor were named to first team All-Conference honors, while Rebekah Adams was tabbed with second team accolades. Stephanie Parenteau and Jamie Johnston earned third team honors for their performance on the field.

Graves, a junior midfielder, led the Maroons in scoring after netting nine goals this season, five of which were game winners. She also assisted in three other goals to accumulate 21 total points on the year. Graves was named ODAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week in two consecutive weeks (10/24 - 10/31) after scoring five goals in those two weeks.

For the second year in a row, Kantor, a sophomore defender, finds her name on the All-Conference poll after being slated with second team honors in 2010. She tallied one assist on the season and was a major force in the Maroon backfield, which only allowed 10 goals the entire season.

Also a member of the 2010 All-Conference second team, Rebekah Adams was second in scoring for Roanoke this season, netting six goals. The junior forward also tied for a team high five assists.

Parenteau is no stranger to the All-Conference poll as she was tabbed with third team honors last year. The junior midfielder was tied for third in scoring with five goals, and tied Adams with five assists. She was a catalyst for attack this season as she led the team in shots on goal with 39. Johnston, a senior midfielder, earns her first All-Conference spot in 2011. Johnston started in all 16 games that she played, and also led the defense that served up 10 shutouts.

The Maroons currently have a record of 14-4-1, while going 9-3 in ODAC play. The team earned an at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament, where they will play Centre College (Danville, Ky.) in the opening round of play. The contest is slated for Saturday, November 12th at 7:30 in Atlanta, Ga. Keep checking maroons.roanoke.edu for more information.
