Women's Soccer Falls in Double Overtime on Saturday
SALEM – The Roanoke College women's soccer team fell in double overtime to Shenandoah University on Saturday afternoon, 1-0. The Maroons now have a record of 2-6-1; 0-3 in the ODAC, while the Hornets are now 5-4-1; 3-0-1 in ODAC play.

The evening also served as senior night for three players: Maya Kantor, Kara Kapell, and Kristyn Brogan.  These three players have been a part of a Maroon squad that has had three consecutive 10-win seasons.  The Maroons also advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2011.

The first half was played mostly between the 18 yard marks, as only three shots were taken between the two teams.  Roanoke only fired off one shot by Lauren O'Brien, that was saved by Shenandoah's Erin Septer.  The story remained the same through regulation and the first overtime period, where the score stayed at 0-0.

Just 15 seconds into the second overtime period, Shenandoah's Jennifer Nguyen sent a ball ahead to Courtney Stull, who placed it in the back of the net for the sudden death victory.

Roanoke outshot Shenandoah 7-6, and held the advantage in saves, 4-3.  Lauren O'Brienl led the team in shots with three, followed by Kara Kapell with two.  Carolyn Sarbacher played all 100 minutes in net and tallied four saves.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, October 2nd as they play host to Sweet Briar College at Kerr Stadium.  That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
