FOREST, Va. --- Lynchburg College forward Dessi Dupuy earned the ODAC Player of the Year award as one of three LC Hornets taking home special honors as part of the All-ODAC women's soccer awards. LC mentor Dr. Todd Olsen was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, while defender Rachel Sadowski was selected as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete by the league's sports information directors. Washington and Lee University defender Ashley Hogan received ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades.
Five Maroons were named to the 2013 Women's Soccer All-ODAC Squads. Sophomore Nathalie Torres earned First Team honors in 2013. Sophomore Ashley Barnes, junior Kaitlyn Manning and senior Maya Kantor each were named to Second Team All-ODAC. Junior goalkeeper, Carolyn Sarbacher was tabbed with a Third Team award.
Torres, a sophomore from Wilmington, DE, picks up her first All-ODAC honors in 2013. She finished the season with 10 points, scoring five goals with two game-winners. Torres won the ODAC Player of the Week award on October 7th, after scoring three goals in the week. She scored two goals against Sweet Briar College, including the game winner, then scored a goal in Roanoke's 4-0 win over Randolph-Macon. Torres started all 19 games for the Maroons and took 24 shots.
Barnes, a sophomore from S. Elgin, IL, was named to the All-ODAC Second Team in 2013. She started and played in 18 games during the season. Barnes led the team in total points (18), scoring nine goals during the season. Barnes was named ODAC Player of the Week on October 14th, having scored five goals in two games. She tied a school record of four goals in a game in Roanoke's 6-0 win over Randolph. She followed that game with one of two goals in Roanoke's 2-0 win against Virginia Wesleyan. Her nine goals ranked seventh in the ODAC, and sixth in game-winning goals with three.
Kantor, a senior from New City, NY, is a four-time All-ODAC selection. Kantor started and played in all 19 games for the Maroons in 2013. She finished the season with one assist in Roanoke's 5-0 win over Sweet Briar. Kantor was a major force in Roanoke's defensive squad, a group that only allowed three goals in the month of October. Roanoke went undefeated in October, thanks to the help from the Roanoke backfield.
Manning, a junior from Davie, FL, also added to the Roanoke backfield, earning Second Team All-ODAC honors. She started in 16 games for the Maroons and played in 18 total during the 2013 season. She took a total of three shots during the year. There were 10 games during the year in which Manning played the entire length of the contest, including two 110-minute overtime draws. With two defenders on the All-ODAC squad for the Maroons, Roanoke's defense in 2013 saw much success.
Sarbacher, a junior from Dunkirk, MD, picks up her second All-ODAC nod after being named to the Third Team in 2012 as well. Sarbacher started in all 17 games for the Maroons in 2013. She ranked third in the conference in both shutouts (4) and save percentage (.849). Sarbacher gave up only 11 goals this year, picking up eight wins and making 62 saves.
