Women's Soccer Defeats Randolph-Macon on Senior Day
SALEM - The Roanoke College women's soccer team was victorious on Senior Day, defeating Randolph-Macon 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.  The Maroons now have a record of 6-4, 2-2 in ODAC play, while the Yellow Jackets are 4-3-1, 1-2 in the ODAC.

Before the game started, the Maroons celebrated the careers of four seniors who have helped the team to success over the past four years.  Roanoke's senior class includes Casey Moore, Carolyn Sarbacher, Kaitlyn Manning and Sara Dorrance.

Roanoke scored a pair of goals early in the contest, both in identical fashion.  Marlana Barnard served up a corner kick at 8:13 in the first half, which found the head of Ashley Barnes for the Maroons first goal of the game.  Just three minutes later, Barnard fired off another corner kick, this time connecting with Linnea Kremer for the Maroons second goal of the game.  After 11:34, the Maroons held a 2-0 lead over Randolph-Macon.  The Yellow Jackets answered at 32:35, where Mia Heydet took a shot into the right side of the goal to pull Randolph-Macon within one, 2-1.

At the 66th minute, Barnes scored her sixth goal of the season with a rocket into the upper left corner of the goal, putting the Maroons back ahead by two, 3-1.  Less than a minute later, Abbe Guarino found the same opportunity, this time to the opposide side of the net, scoring Roanoke's fourth goal to lead 4-1.

Roanoke finished with 15 shots on the afternoon, led by Ashely Barnes who took four to lead the team.  Four other Maroon (Nathalie Torres, Abbe Guarino, Emily Whitaker and Courtney Yoke) each took two shots apiece.  Sarah Dvorak and Casey Moore split time in net with Moore picking up the Maroons lone save of the game.

Randolph-Macon was held to just two shots during the contest.  Mia Heydet took one of the Yellow Jackets' shots, while Lindsey Hall took the other.  Elizabeth Blanco played the complete game in net for Randolph-Macon, deflecting seven shots in the process.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, October 1st as they travel to take on Eastern Mennonite University.  That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
