The Lead: Roanoke got three first-half goals en route to a 3-0 victory over Guilford on Wednesday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C.
How it Happened
- Laura Garbarini scored in the 17th minute when she took a pass from Emily Whitaker from the left side and beat the GC keeper from six yards out.
- In the 28th minute, Lauren O'Brien played a through ball up the middle of the field that sprung Linnea Kremer for a breakaway goal to make it 2-0 RC.
- O'Brien would send SierraLynn Johnson in on a breakaway of her own with just over a minute left to go in the first-half to make it 3-0.
- Sarah Dvorak, Sydney Sherman and Caroline Liebel combined on the shutout in goal for the Maroons, while Cheyanne Grim made five saves for GC.
- RC outshot GC 14-7 and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
Roanoke will welcome Christopher Newport to Salem on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. for a non-conference match at Kerr Stadium.
