The Lead: Roanoke fell to Sewanee 2-1 in the season-opener after a late second half goal by the Tigers.
How it Happened
- Freshman goalie Chris Martin recorded two saves in the first five minutes of play keeping the Tigers scoreless
- Senior forward Linnea Kremer gave Roanoke the lead at the 22:52 mark after she broke in alone, had her initially shot saved but was able to collect her own rebound and score.
- Sewanee answered back two minutes later with a goal shot off a cross by Nikki Johnston making it a 1-1 game.
- After back and forth play in the second-half, the Tigers took the final lead of the game with a goal from Shelby Meckstroth (79:29).
- The Maroons outshot the Tigers 15-11, with eight coming in the second half. Roanoke tallied six corners on the day while Sewanee had three.
