The Lead: Fourth-seeded Shenandoah tied fifth-seeded Roanoke 1-1 with SU advancing 4-2 on penalty kicks in the quarterfinals of the 2016 ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament.

How it Happened:

  • The Maroons got on the board in the 22nd minute when Emily Whitaker scored an unassisted goal to make it 1-0.
  • It stayed that way all the way to the 56th minute when Emily Yergin set up Kelsie Luddington to level the match at 1-1.
  • The teams played a pair of overtimes with the two teams combining to take just three shots.
  • In penalty kicks, Chris Martin turned away the first Shenandoah attempt but the Maroons could not pull ahead, missing their first attempt as well. With SU up 1-0, Marlana Bernard knotted the pks at 1-1.
  • The teams then exchanged goals before SU went up 3-2. RC then missed an opportunity to tie and Anna Wilson converted her chance to give Shenandoah the win.
