RC Women's Soccer Set to Start 2018 Season

Salem, Va.- Head Coach Phil Benne and the Roanoke Women's Soccer team are ready to take the field in 2018.

The Maroons will be spending a lot time at home in 2018, as six of their first seven games will be held at Kerr Stadium in Salem.

RC, who posted an 11-7-2 record in 2017, including a 7-2-1 conference mark, will start the season on Saturday, September 1, against Gettysburg at the Shellenberger Invitational on the campus of the University of Lynchburg. The next day, the team will be back in Salem to face off against Maryville (Tenn.) in their home opener.

The following weekend, the Maroons will host Adrian and 2018 NCAA Tournament participant Carnegie Mellon in the Roanoke Invitational Sept. 8-9.  RC faces Meredith on Sept. 12, Randolph-Macon on Sept. 15 and NCAA Tournament team Christopher Newport on Sept. 20 all at home to close out non-conference action.

Roanoke travels to Virginia Wesleyan on Sept. 23 to open up ODAC play, before traveling up the road to face Washington and Lee in a midweek match-up on Sept. 26.

RC starts a four-game homestand, starting with a match against defending ODAC champion Lynchburg for Family Weekend on Sept. 29.  Bridgewater (Oct. 3), Randolph (Oct. 6), and Guilford (Oct. 9) will also be making a trip to Kerr Stadium in the first three games of October.

The Maroons will then hit the road for back-to-back contests with Eastern Mennonite on Oct. 13 and Ferrum on Oct. 17. Roanoke's senior day will be against Sweet Briar on Oct. 20, followed by the last regular season home game on Oct. 23 vs Emory & Henry.

Roanoke College will close the regular season with a match at Shenandoah on Saturday, October 27.
