Meagan Ryan '18 and Russell Dishman have been named to the women's soccer coaching staff

Roanoke College women's soccer coach Phil Benne is pleased to announce two new additions to his staff for the 2019 season. A pair of familiar faces will be joining Benne on the sidelines this fall with the return of 2018 graduate Meagan Ryan and former assistant coach Russell Dishman.

Ryan finished her career with six goals and 13 assists from 2014-18. After graduating with her degree in Sports Management the Maryland native spent the 2018 season as a graduate assistant with Auburn University at Montgomery. Ryan helped to guide a Warhawks team that wrapped up the season by winning three of their final four games. In between her collegiate playing and coaching days, Ryan was the head soccer coach at Glenvar High School for the 2018 spring season.

"We are excited to have Meagan back at RC and on our staff. Her knowledge of Roanoke College, our program, and the experience she received last year at Auburn, make Meagan a great addition to our program." Benne would also add that Ryan's primary duties will be on field coaching, player development, day to day operations, academic support, and recruiting.

2019 will mark the second stint for Dishman with the women's soccer program. From 2011-2012, the Averett University graduate was on staff as the goalkeeper's coach, a position that he will resume this season. Russell is currently on the staff for US Youth Soccer East Region where he assists and coordinates selection, training, and evaluation of female goalkeepers. In addition to his work with US and Virginia Youth Soccer, Dishman has an extensive coaching background at a variety of levels.

"Coach Dishman brings a wealth of knowledge not only to the goalkeeper position but also an extensive coaching resume at many levels and we welcome him back to the staff." In addition to the goalkeepers, Benne will be counting on Russell's experience to help with the training of field players as well as game preparation.
