RC receives Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches

United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday the Team Academic Award winners at the high school and collegiate levels to recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year.

United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.

The 2019-20 Roanoke Women's soccer team posted a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.57. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2019-20 academic year.

Roanoke College was one of ten Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) teams to earn the distinction. The Maroons GPA was fourth behind rivals Washington and Lee (3.66), Virginia Wesleyan (3.59) and Lynchburg (3.58).

Coach Phil Benne's squad earned the award for the eighth time in the past nine seasons.
