The Short Story: The Roanoke College women's soccer team scored three times in the first half and four more in the second to pick up its second-straight win on the road in commanding fashion, 7-2, over Mary Baldwin.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A miscue allowed Mary Baldwin to take a 1-0 lead on a goal just 37 seconds into the game.
  • MC Petrucelli answered back at 11:39 into the first half with an unassisted goal to tie the score at 1-1.
  • Less than 10 minutes later Morgan O'Neill put the Maroons up 2-1 with her own unassisted goal at 19:03.
  • With less than two minutes left in the first half, Tessa McMillan scored what would become the game-winner off a pass from Tasha Miller at 43:01, giving Roanoke the 3-1 lead heading into halftime.
  • The Maroons went on to score four more goals in the second half, starting with Petrucelli's second goal of the game at 57:45 off a pass from O'Neill.
  • Emma Barnett scored her first career goal at 65:18, putting the visitors ahead 5-1.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The 12 goals by the Maroons were the most in back-to-back games since 2018 when Roanoke scored 17 in consecutive games against Sweet Briar (12-0) and former ODAC member Emory & Henry (5-0).
  • In total, the Maroons fired 37 shots including 22 on goal.
  • Roanoke also led in corner kicks 7-0.
  • Taylor Gallik improved to 4-3 on the season after getting the win and playing the game's first 45 minutes. Victoria Correll and Carrington Lippi each saw action in goal while each recording a save.
