
RC 2nd after day two of ODAC Championships

The Basics:
Score: Women 211 (2nd) | Men 217.5 (2nd)
Meet: Roanoke at the 2020 ODAC Swim Championships
Location: Greensboro, N.C.
The Lead: The Roanoke men would pick up a pair of wins, including an ODAC record on Friday. Both the men and women stay in second place as they begin to open up a big lead on their nearest competitor, Randolph-Macon.
Women's highlights:
- Day three got started with the 200 Freestyle Relay. Kimberly Large, Reilly Bird, Paige Shaika, and Elizabeth Roberts got the women off to a solid start with a second place time of 1:37.07.
- RC would place four women in the top eight of the 500 Freestyle. Izzy Mack earned a runner-up finish in 5:07.54. Teammates Hannah Petty and Grace Fountain dueled to the wall with Petty touching just 1.2 seconds clear for the 5th place finish while Maria Vinson made it a quartet in the top eight.
- The most exciting race of the meet, the 50 Freestyle would see Large touch second in 24 seconds flat, just missing the meet record by .23 of a second. Byrd touched in 24.42 for 6th place points.
- The final event of the night would see another runner up finish. Byrd, Sarah Virginia Scott, Large, and Petty finished the 400 Medley Relay in 3:57.35.
Men's highlights:
- The team of David Adarkwah, Nick McGrath, Xavier Williams, and Brian Grimmett posted a two second win over the team from Lynchburg with a time of 1:25.34 in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
- Ben Tate made it a two for two start when he won the 500 Freestyle. Tate's final time of 4:36.80 broke the previous ODAC Record time of 4:37.30.
- RC would pick up more points in the 200 Individual Medley when Davis Wheeler posted an 8th place finish in 1:58.62.
- McGrath would touch in 21.39, a split second behind the winner (20.84), for a 5th place finish in the 50 Freestyle. Grimmett just out-touched Adarkwah for 8th place points.
- The finale would see Colin Burnette, Connor Kinkema, Tate, and Grimmett finish runner-up in the 400 Medley Relay with a final time of 3:28.80.
Up next: The Maroons come into the third day of the Championships trailing only the Generals of Washington and Lee.
