The Short Story: The Roanoke women's swim team finished as the runner-up at the 2023 ODAC Championships after four days of events at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

TOP FINISHES

  • The Maroons opened the championships with a second-place finish in the 800 yard free relay as the team of Julianna Morrow, Halle Schart, Carter Satterfield, and Susanna Price finished in a time of 7:44.48.
  • In the first final on Thursday evening, Lily Mullens, Morrow, Ariana Guillory, and Paige Shaika finished third in the 200 yard free relay with a time of 1:38.81.
  • Price finished second in the 500 yard free with a time of 5:08.53. 
  • Roanoke had two top-eight finishers in the 200 yard IM with Schart finishing second in a time of 2:06.54, just .03 off of first place. Bailey Gallagher was eighth in the event with 2:12.09.
  • Mullens was second to touch the wall in the 50 yard free with a time of 23.93.
  • The last event on Thursday saw Maddie Andrews, Kate Pearson, Schart, and Mullens finish third in the 400 yard medley relay.
  • Friday opened with the 200 yard medley relay with Andrews, Pearson, Schart, and Mullens finishing fourth with a time of 1:49.99.
  • Schart finished second in her second individual event with a time of 4:33.00 in the 400 yard IM. Gallagher also reached the podium with an eighth-place finish in a time of 4:43.45.
  • The Maroons got their first ODAC event champion when Susanna Price won the 200 yard free with a time of 1:54.58. Morrow finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:57.97.
  • The last event on Friday saw three Maroons reach the podium in the 100 yard back as Mullens was runner-up with a time 57.49, Andrews was fifth with a time of 59.29, and Morrow was seventh with a time of 1:00.53.
  • Price opened up the finals on Saturday in the 1650 yard free with her second ODAC title with a time of 17:51.83. Satterfield was sixth in the event with a time of 18:19.44 and Julia Volz was eighth with a time of 18:52.74.
  • Schart was third in the 200 yard back with a time of 2:04.60. Andrews and Morrow were 5-6 in the event with times of 2:08.27 and 2:08.39, respectively.
  • The 100 yard free saw Mullens finish runner-up with a time of 52.49. 
  • Pearson was eighth in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:30.44.
  • The final event of the championships saw Mullens, Morrow, Schart, and Price finish runner-up in the 400 yard free relay with a time of 3:32.58.
