Roanoke Invitational Challenge Day Two

The Basics
Event: Roanoke Invitational Challenge (DIII and NAIA Invite)
Location: Kerr-Cregger Field House, Salem Va.

The Lead: After playing host to NCAA DI and DII teams yesterday, the Roanoke Invitational Challenge continued all day Saturday with DIII and NAIA schools in competition: Columbia International, Eastern Mennonite, Lynchburg, Montreat, and Virginia Wesleyan.

Women's Highlights:

  • Clare Kinney placed second in the High Jump with a final height of 4'5". Kinney would return later in the day to finish third in the Long Jump with 13'7.50".
  • In the Women's Weight Throw, Caitlin Culhane posted a final distance of 38'4.25" in a runner-up effort.
  • Grace Fowler returned after a third place finish in the Shot Put to move up a slot today with a runner-up put of 36'0.25".
  • The Triple Jump would see a trio of Maroons in the top five. Katelyn Wiley finished third at 32'4.25", with Cammi Winston and Brooke Ryman rounding out the top 5.
  • In the 200 Meters, Alison Moreau would cross the line in27.02 for a runner-up finish.

Men's Highlights:

  • Zach McNeil got the Marron men off to a good start with a third place finish in the High Jump, 5'6".
  • In the Triple Jump, RC would see another third place effort when Jared McIntyre jumped 40'6".
  • After posting a time of 8.52 in the prelims, Xavier O'Brien set a collegiate best 8.45 in winning the Finals of the 60 Meter Hurdles.
  • Another best time would be set in the 1000 Meters when Cooper Neeble bested the field with a time of 2:34.75.
  • Roanoke would wrap up the two days of events with a third place finish in the 4x400 Relay. Troy Crawley, Cameron Harris, and Aaron Rogers would join O'Brien in posting a final time of 3:41.75.
