Roanoke Hosts the Finn Pincus Invitational

The Basics
Event: Finn Pincus Invitational  
Location: Kerr-Cregger Field House, Salem Va.

The Lead: The Roanoke College indoor track & field teams were back in action when RC played host to the Finn Pincus Invitational on Saturday. The event would feature the Maroons and men's and women's athletes from Bridgewater, Eastern Mennonite, Ferrum, Lynchburg, Radford, Southern Virginia, and William Peace.

Women's Highlights:

  • Alison Moreau would record a final height of 5'4.25" in winning the women's high jump. Kaitlyn Nguyen would finish in a tie for second at 5'1". Moreau would come back later in the afternoon to place third in the 200 meters with a time of 26.42, missing out on a second place finish by just .01 of a second.
  • In the pole vault, RC would see a pair of women, Chloe Van Duyne and Claire Trotto, finish in a tie for second at 10'0".
  • Grace Fowler would post the best distance in the ODAC this season when she won the shot put at 37'7.25".
  • Hannah Koepfinger would register a pair of runner-up finishes. Koepfinger would finish at 16'7.75" in the long jump before returning to post a time of 3:32.08 in the 800 meters.
  • The 400 meters would see Lily Lippert finish just .07 behind the winner in a time of 1:01.45.
  • Anna Stafford, Brooke Ryman, and Katelyn Wiley would join Trotto in winning the 4x200 relay in a time of 1:59.00.

Men's Highlights:

  • The Maroons would once again go 1-2 in the high jump. Hunter Bohon posted a winning height of 5'8", just two inches clear of Jared McIntyre.
  • Youssef Labriny would give Roanoke another event win with a throw of 34'8.50" in the men's weight throw.
  • In the long jump, Link Hammerschmidt would add another win for the Maroons at 21'4", two inches clear of the nearest competitor.
  • Joseph Kenney finished runner-up in the triple jump with a final distance of 41'1.50".
  • After qualifying at 8.52, Xavier O'Brien lowered his time to 8.50 in finishing runner up in the 60 meter hurdles.
  • Zach McNeil teamed with Hammerschmidt, Kenney, and McIntyre to post a time of 1:40.40 in the 4x200 relay.

Up Next: Roanoke will wrap up the indoor portion of the schedule with a trip to Shenandoah University on March 5-6.
