The Basics
Event: Finn Pincus Invitational
Location: Salem, VA
The Lead: Roanoke track & field was back in action for the first time in 2022 when they competed at the, two-day, Finn Pincus Invitational held in the Cregger Center Field House. The host Maroons had a solid showing as school records would fall on Friday and Saturday.
Men's Highlights:
- 400M: Samuel Crawford earned a runner-up finish when he posted a final time of 50.61, setting a new school record by besting the 51.24 posted by Zaan Janse in 2010. Crawford returned for a 3rd in the 200M with a time of 22.79.
- 60M: In the prelims Brady Fowler earned a spot in the finals when he crossed at 7.03, knocking .01 off the previous school record of 7.04 set by Cam Thompson in 2016. In the 200M, Fowler crossed 6th.
- 60M Hurdles: Xavier O'Brien posted a runner-up time of 8.47.
- Mile: 3rd place finish for Cooper Neeble with a final time of 4:26.60.
- High Jump: The Maroons would finish 3rd and 4th with Elijah Lotharp (5'10.75") just edging Hunter Bohon.
- Weight Throw: Youssef Labriny recorded a throw of 38'6.75" to earn a 3rd place finish.
- 5000M: On the first night of the meet, Tim Hoffstaetter came home 4th (16:45.54).
Women's Highlights:
- 200M: Eleanor Hinckley finished 1st when she crossed the line in 26.91. Mikayla Hefferon finished 6th in 27.29.
- 400M: Hefferon earned a runner-up with a time of 1:01.60.
- 60M Hurdles: Hannah Snodgrass finished .23 behind the winner with her time of 9.40.
- 5000M: Emma Maras (20:55.21) and Lauren Brown (20:57.99) gave Roanoke a pair of the top five with a 3rd and 4th.
- High Jump: at 4'11" Hinckley and Kaitlyn Nguyen tied for 3rd with a height of 4'11".
- Long Jump: Hannah Koepfinger went 16'8" for a runner-up finish.
- Weight Throw: Grace Fowler gave Roanoke another 1st place finish when she registered a final distance of 44'8.75".
- Shot Put: Fowler started a 3-4-5 Maroon finish with a mark of 35'11.5", finishing just ahead of Tiera Hudson (35'10.75") and Elisabeth Cullen (34'5.50").
Up Next: Next Friday and Saturday the Maroons travel to Lexington to compete in the VMI Winter Relays.
