The Basics

Event: Bast-Cregger Invitational

Location: Salem, VA

The Lead: The Roanoke College indoor track & field team competed for the first time in the 2022-23 season when they hosted 20 other teams to the fieldhouse in the Cregger Field House for the 2022 Bast-Cregger Invitational. The two-day meet took place on Friday afternoon and all-day Saturday with over 45 individual and relay events.

Men's Highlights:

  • In the long jump, Dylan Knick finished 10th with a jump of 6.13m.
  • Sam Crawford broke the Roanoke school record in the 300m with a new record time of 35.43 to finish runner-up in the event. Blake Morin also finished in the top-10 with a ninth place finish in the 37.91.
  • Tim Hoffstaetter was third in in the 1-mile with a time of 4:41.46 with RJ Birdsall (4:50.72) and Cameron Ballinger (4:50.74) finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. Andrew Gregorits also finished in the top 10 of the one mile with a time of 4:58.97.
  • Daniel Graham finished seventh for the Maroons in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.04.
  • Brady Fowler tied the school record in the 60m with a time of 6.94, 14th best in the NCAA Division III this year.
  • Joseph Kenney finished seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 12.77m
  • Victor Cardwell was fourth (52.35) and Brandon Heffinger was ninth (53.41) in the 400m.
  • James Sarsfield was fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 12.87m. Curtiss Krause snuck in the top 10 with a throw of 10.89m.
  • In the 800m, Daniel Jewell (2:07.94) and Xavier Chlebowski (2:07.96) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
  • In the 3000m Franklin Reid finished fourth with a time of 9:58.37 and Birdsall finished fifth with a time of 10:05.92
  • Victor Cardwell broke the Maroon school record in the 600m with a third place finish in time of 1:24.65.
  • Cody Roupe and Jared McIntyre went nine and ten in the high jump with heights of 1.78m and 1.73m, respectively.
  • The Maroons took home the top four spots in the pole vault with, in order of finishJoseph Eldridge (4.05m), Edward Rygalski (3.90m), Dominic McCombs (3.90m), and Miles Enstrom (3.75m) all claiming spots for Roanoke.

Women's Highlights:

  • Maryrose Molina-Shuman finished sixth in the long jump with a 4.75m leap.
  • In the weight throw, the Maroons finished 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Grace Fowler finished runner up with a throw of 14.46m with Elisabeth Cullen (5 – 13.49m), Sarah Fuchs (6 – 11.97m), Abbey Gajtkowski (7 – 11.91m), and Caitlin Culhane (8 – 11.80m) also finishing in the top 10.
  • Mikayla Hefferon was runner up in the 300m with a finals time of 42.82.
  • In the 60m hurdles, Hannah Snodgrass finished fourth with a time of 9.56 while Lindsey Hobin finished seventh with a time of 10.40.
  • Cammi Winston was runner up in the triple jump with a distance of 10.44m.
  • Fowler finished second in the shot put with a throw of 11.32m with Claire Kinney finishing fourth with a throw of 10.72m. Cullen also was in the top with a ninth place finish with a throw of 9.95m.
  • Lauren Henson was fifth for Roanoke in the 400m with a time of 1:06.97.
  • In the 800m, Hailey Draper was sixth with a time of 2:44.38.
  • Eleanor Hinckley and Haylee Gamble finished eighth and ninth with times of 26.65 and 26.66, respectively, in the 200m.
  • Kaitlyn Nguyen (3rd – 1.55m), Hinckley (6th – 1.50m), and Winston (8th – 1.45m) all finished in the top 10 of the high jump.
  • Chloe Van Duyne (3.05m) and Kinney (2.75m) were fourth and fifth respectively in the pole vault.
