Volleyball Defeats Southern Virginia in Four Sets
SALEM – The Roanoke College volleyball team picked up its third win in four matches after defeating Southern Virginia, 3-1 in non-conference action. The Maroons now have a record of 12-6, while the Knights are 5-5 overall.

The Maroons defeated Southern Virginia in four sets (25-12; 30-28; 19-25; 25-12). Roanoke's toughest win came in the second set, as they had built a 11-3 lead over the Knights. Southern Virginia fought all the way backtying the game at 24-24. The Maroons won the set after back-to-back points, with Mackenzie Allen picking up the first kill, followed by an attack error by Southern Virginia. After losing the third set, the Maroons were able build a sizable lead in the fourth set to win 25-12.

Macey Tyree led the Maroons in kills with 15, will tallying the second most digs on the team (13). Leading the team in digs was Brittany Peterson, who finished with 16, while Samantha Klostermann had 12. Alexandra Martin finished the match with a team high 20 assists. Klostermann had the most blocks on the team with four. Martin also had a team high in service aces with three.

The Maroons return to action on Tuesday, October 1st as they play host to Emory & Henry in the Bast Center. That contest is scheduled for a 6:30 PM start.
