Volleyball Falls in ODAC Semifinals to Washington and Lee, 3-1
LEXINGTON - After reaching the team's first ODAC Semifinal since 2009, the Maroons fell to Washington and Lee, 3-1 (10-25; 25-18; 19-25; 13-25) on Saturday afternoon.  The Maroons finish their season with a record of 19-11, while the Generals move on to the ODAC Championship game against the winner of Bridgewater/Lynchburg with a record of 27-6.
 
The 2013 season saw the Maroons pick up 19 victories, besting their 2012 record by three matches.  This season also saw the 250th victory of head coach Blair Trail, as the Maroons defeated Agnes Scott on September 7th.  With the end of this season, Trail has had 12 of 16 seasons at Roanoke with 15 wins or more.
 
At the conclusion of the season, many Maroons moved up the Roanoke Volelyball records board.  Mackenzie Tyree finished the season with 397 digs, which ranks seventh all-time at Roanoke for a single season.  She also has 879 digs over just her two-year career, which sits seventh all-time in a career for the Maroons.  Macey Tyree tallied 353 digs, which ranks ninth all-time in single-season digs.  Samantha Klosterman tallied a four-year total in kills of 747, which ranks seventh all-time at Roanoke.  Klostermann's 332 kills this season is 9th in single-season kills.  Alexandra Martin completes her first two years with 698 assists, moving to tenth in all-time assists.
 
After a slow start in the first set, falling 25-10, the Maroons started to roll in set number two.  The two teams battled back and forth through a 7-7 tie, including winning four consecutive points off of Samantha Klostermann serves.  It was at that point that Roanoke broke away, winning six of the next seven points, taking a five point 13-8 lead.  Roanoke extended its lead to six as Mackenzie Allen made a kill off of a Jessica Block pass to go up 15-9.  The Maroons would hold their six 5-6 point lead through the final moments of the set.  The Maroons took a seven-point lead at 23-16 and won the second set 25-18.  However, the Generals went on to win the next two sets, 25-19, 25-13.
 
Samantha Klostermann led the Maroons in kills with 11, followed by Allison White with seven.  Jessica Block dished out 30 assists on the contest while having nine digs.  Three Maroons in double digits with digs: Mackenzie Tyree (16), Allison White (10) and Macey Tyree (10).  The Maroons combined for eight block assists, as well as 36 total kills.
 
The ODAC All Tournament Team will be announced this evening after the ODAC Championship game, and will be posted here as soon as that is announced.  The 2013 All-ODAC Teams will be announced on Tuesday, and if any Maroons make the squads, that will be posted on http://maroons.roanoke.edu.
