The Lead: Roanoke started day two of the Cougar Classic with a win over ODAC foe Shenandoah. RC got a match high 12 kills from Sydney Daniel in the win.

How it Happened:

  • With RC leading 8-7, Roanoke scored six of the next seven points, taking a 14-8 lead on a service ace by Kylah Blackmore. The Maroons lead would grow to 23-17 before SU cut it to 23-21. Back-to-back kills by Daniel and Shelby Frost would close game one out.
  • In game two, RC held a 21-8 lead after an attack error by SU. The Hornets rallied and retook the lead with four consecutive points. The Maroons responded by scoring four straight points to take a 2-0 lead.
  • With the score 12-11 RC  in game three,  Roanoke  took charge,  reeling off nine of the next 13 points to go up 22-15 and go on to the 25-16 win.

The Lead
Roanoke got 11 kills from Logan Graves and Emory & Henry hit just .079 as a team as the Maroons clinched its second consecutive Cougar Classic title.
 
How it Happened

  • Game one was tied at 14 apiece. RC then went on a 7-2 run to take a 21-16 lead. E&H cut it to 21-19, but the Maroons scored four straight to close out the opening game.
  • In game two, the Wasps led  9-2. A kill by Graves sparked what proved to be a 9-1 for Roanoke to take a 11-10 lead. With the score tied at 18, RC closed out the game with a 7-3 run.
  • RC jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the third game and never looked back, scoring eight of the final 11 points.

Roanoke will host the Maroon Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Salem.
