The Lead: The Roanoke College volleyball team continues its impressive streak to start off the season with 14 consecutive wins after Blair Trail picked up her 300th win the night before.

How it happened:
  • The Maroons got off to a 10-1 lead in the first set after three service aces from Kelsey Goodman and attack errors by the Fighting Squirrels to win the set 25-11.
  • After an early 3-3 stalemate, RC pulled away thanks to a couple of service aces by Olivia Earls and kills by Kylah Blackmore that gave Roanoke an 8-3 cushion. The Maroons would ride that to win the set 25-16.
  • The third set proved to be competitive early on by being tied at 7-7, but after kills by Kylah Blackmore and attack errors by Mary Baldwin, RC was able to pull away to gain a 14-7 lead. The Maroons finished the final set on a strong note by earning the last seven points to win the set 25-10.
  • Kylah Blackmore led the team in kills with 12 while Shelby Frost and Sydney Daniel pitched in 11 and seven respectfully.
  • The Maroons had 11 service aces on the night, which was the second best mark of the season. Jessica Block had four and Kelsey Goodman pitched in with three.
  • On the defensive end, Alexandra Martin led the team with 14 digs, and Kylah Blackmore had 13 to give her a double-double

Up Next: The Maroons will receive a much needed break and won't play again until next Wednesday, 9/30 at Eastern Mennonite University for a 7:00 p.m. match.
