The Lead: Kylah Blackmore and Alex Wolfe each posted double-doubles to lift Roanoke to win 3-0 over Randolph in the season-opener

How it Happened:

  • In set one, Roanoke jumped to a 4-0 lead with an ace from Wolfe and three straight kills from Blackmore.
  • RC held the lead for the entire set, extending the gap to as many as seven points.
  • The Maroons used a 9-2 run to take the first set 25-15, capped by a pair of aces from Wolfe.
  • In set two, Roanoke and Randolph battled back-and-forth remaining within four points the entire game.
  • Wolfe and freshman Grace Parrish delivered back-to-back kills in the final two points, giving RC a 2-0 lead.
  • Randolph jumped to a 12-5 advantage in the final set before Roanoke use a 11-4 run, led by two aces and two kills from sophomore Kelsey Goodman and two kills from Wolfe to tie it up at 21-21.
  • RC took four of the final six points as Wolfe recorded her fourth ace of the day to secure the sweep.
  • Jessica Block dished out 36 assists while defensive specialist Olivia Earls led the Maroon defense with 19 digs

The Lead: Roanoke dropped the second match in five sets on Saturday to host Averett.

How it Happened

  • Wolfe and Blackmore posted double-doubles for the second straight match, while Block joined the duo with 41 assists.
  • Wolfe had 14 kills, Blackmore had 13 and Sydney Daniel chipped in with 10.
  • Block and Shelby Frost each had four aces 
  • Earls led the Maroon defense with 24 digs, Blackmore had 16 stops, while Block and Wolfe had 14 and 13 digs, respectivley.
