The Lead: Alex Wolfe recorded a team-high 21 kills on the day as Roanoke defeated Ferrum and Hollins in the first games of the Roanoke College Maroon Classic Friday night.
How it Happened
- Roanoke jumped to an 11-6 lead after back-to-back kills assisted by Jessica Block.
- The Panthers brought it within one at the 20-19 mark before the Maroons broke away with a pair of kills from Wolfe making it 23-19. Sydney Daniel tallied two kills for the final two points of the 25-22 set.
- RC used a 7-1 run in set two, started by Shelby Frost, to earn a 20-7 lead before taking the set.
- After trailing 15-11 in game three, three different Maroons tallied kills to tie it up 21-21.
- After a back and forth battle, Blackmore gave Roanoke a 26-25 lead before Wolfe secure the victory with an ace.
- Block finished with 28 assists, while Wolfe had a team-high 14 kills. Daniel had eight kills and Kylah Blackmore had seven.
- Defensively, Ryan Hedgepeth and Olivia Earls had 16 and 11 digs, respectively.

How it Happend
- Roanoke outscored Hollins 75-29 in the three set sweep
- Frost tallied eight kills and Wolfe contributed seven while block dished out 24 assists
- The Maroons hit .417 as a team, headed by Frost with a .615 average.
- Logan Graves and Olivia Earls each recorded four aces apiece contributing to the team's 15 total, while Block had 24 assists.
- In game one RC jumped out to a 13-2 lead following a Kelsey Goodman kill. Hollins would make it 18-7 before the Maroons took seven out of the next eight points to secure the win.
- With the score 8-4 in game two, RC rattled off a 10-1 run, taking a 18-5 following an HU attacking error.
- Game three saw the score tied at 5-5 before RC went on a 9-1 run capped by a Goodman kill to make it 14-6
