Volleyball Sweeps EMU For Seventh Straight Victory

The Lead: Roanoke ran its winning streak to seven games with a 3-0 sweep of Eastern Mennonite in each team's first game in ODAC play Wednesday night in Salem.

How it Happened

  • Alex Wolfe led RC with 10 kills on the night, while Sydney Daniel and Logan Graves had seven kills each. Jessica Block and Christen Zammit had 19 and seven assists, respectively.  
  • Defensively, Block, Ryan Hedgepeth and Kylah Blackmore each had 11 digs to lead the Maroons. Graves also had three blocks for RC.
  • RC hit .333 in the first game, logging 13 kills on 33 attempts. A Blackmore kill made it 17-7 Maroons and with the score 18-10, RC scored seven of the final nine points to take game one 25-12.
  • With the score 8-6 in game two, a Graves kill sparked what would prove to be a 17-8 run to close the game and send RC to the 25-8 win.
  • Game three saw RC up 18-12 then the Maroons rattled off four consecutive points, including a kill by Wolfe to put the Roanoke up 22-12.
  • Maria Yoder led EMU with six kills, while Jasmine Johnson dished out 13 assists.

Up Next: Roanoke travels to Lynchburg this weekend where it will face LC at 6:30 p.m. on Friday then head across town to face Randolph at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
