The Lead: Washington and Lee got 13 kills from Elly Cosgrove as the Generals earned a hard fought 3-0 win over Roanoke Tuesday in ODAC Volleyball action.

How it Happened

  • Blackmore finished with 10 kills on the night to along with eight digs. Sydney Daniel had nine kills as well for the Maroons, while Alex Wolfe and Shelby Frost each tallied six kills.
  • Jessica Block dished out 17 assists and Christen Zammit had 14 helpers as well. Ryan Hedgepeth had a match-high 26 digs for Roanoke.
  • Game one was a back and forth battle with neither team able to open more than a four point lead with the Generals scoring the final two points to take the game 25-23.
  • With the score tied 13-13 in game two, Washington and Lee was able to score 12 of the final 15 points to take a commanding lead in the match.
  • Mackenzie Shand and Meg Guignon each had seven kills for W&L, while the team combined for 13 total blocks in the win.

Up Next: Roanoke is off until October 4 when it hosts Hollins at 6:30 p.m. in an ODAC match.
