RC Volleyball Tops John Wesley 3-0 on Dig Pink Night

The Lead: Kylah Blackmore had 14 kills as Roanoke topped John Wesley 3-0 in volleyball action Thursday night in Salem.

How it Happened

  • Alex Wolfe joined Blackmore in double-digit kills with 11, while Jessica Block had 27 assists and Christen Zammit had 10.
  • Block had four of RC's seven serving aces as well. Defensively, Ryan Hedgepeth had 12 digs, while Oliva Earls had eight stops. Wolfe and Blackmore each had seven digs as well.
  • In game one, RC jumped out to a 9-1 lead on an Earls ace. John Wesley cut it to 17-14 before the Maroons scored four straight points, taking a 21-14 lead on back-to-back kills by Blackmore.
  • John Wesley was up 17-13 in game two before RC reeled off four points to tie the game at 17. The Lady Lions again took the lead 21-17 before Roanoke stormed back, scoring eight of the final 10 points of the set to win.
  • A Block kill helped the Maroons jump out to an 11-5 lead to start game three as they sealed the match with a 25-13 victory.
