The Lead: Roanoke's Kylah Blackmore had 13 kills and nine digs as Roanoke topped Guilford 3-0 in ODAC Volleyball play Saturday afternoon in Salem.

How it Happened

  • Alex Wolfe and Logan Graves had eight kills apiece for the Maroons, while Jessica Block dished out 32 assists in the win.
  • Defensively, Ryan Hedgepeth had 13 digs, while Block had 12 to go along with nine from Blackmore and eight from Wolfe.  Grace Parrish had three blocks paired with five kills on the offensive end.
  • The Maroons trailed 15-14 in game one before going on an 8-2 run, taking a 22-17 lead on a setting error by the Quakers.
  • GC cut it to 22-19 but Parrish, Blackmore and Wolfe recorded kills to close out the set for Roanoke.
  • Roanoke jumped out to a 6-0 lead in game two following a Block serving ace and then would go up 11-3 on a kill by Graves. With the score 19-11, RC scored six of the final nine points to take the game and a commanding 2-0 advantage.
  • RC jumped out to an early lead in game three as well, going up 8-2 on a Sydney Daniel kill then 16-4 on Blackmore kill.
  • Guilford cut its deficit to 18-10, but RC scored seven of the final eight points, closing the match out with a kill from Parrish.

The Lead: Emory & Henry hit .336 as a team as it topped Roanoke 3-0 Friday night in Salem.

How it Happened:

  • Wolfe, Blackmore and Graves each had 11 kills in the loss for the Maroons. Block had 41 assists to go along with eight digs.
  • Defensively, Christen Zammit had 14 digs, while Hedgepeth had 13 stops of her own.
  • Tristen Pennington had 11 kills for Emory & Henry and Ali Singleton had 10.

Up Next: Roanoke will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Shenandoah for a 7:00 p.m. ODAC match.
