Linsey Bailey Named ODAC Player of the Week

SALEM, Va. – Roanoke College freshman Linsey Bailey has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

Bailey, a freshman from Fincastle, Va., put together a consistently strong week to help Roanoke to a 3-2 overall showing that included a 3-1 mark at the 2018 Maroon Classic. Bailey was named to the All-Tournament Team after collecting 56 kills and 38 digs over the four matches, accounting for the bulk of her 71-kill 49-dig week that resulted in her racking up 79.5 points over 19 sets played (4.2 per set). Bailey opened with 15 kills, 11 digs, and a pair of aces in a 3-1 setback to Meredith. After collecting nine kills, five digs, and an ace in a 3-0 win over Mary Baldwin to open the Classic, Bailey registered 14 kills, 16 digs, four aces, and a block in a 3-2 victory over Averett. Day two at the Classic saw Bailey notched 19 kills and eight digs in a 3-1 loss to Sewanee. She capped her week with 14 kills, nine digs, three assists, and an ace in a 3-0 triumph over Piedmont. Thru the first nine matches of the season, Bailey leads the ODAC in kills (127), kills per set (3.85), total points earned (140.5), and points earned per set (4.3).

Roanoke is back in action at Bridgewater on Wednesday.
