Bailey Named VaSID State Rookie of the Year

SALEM, Va. – Roanoke College standout Linsey Bailey has been named the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Volleyball Rookie of the Year as well as a First-Team All-State choice.

Bailey, a freshman outside hitter from Fincastle, Virginia, earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and All-South Region recognition in 2018 after being named the ODAC's Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection. Bailey led the ODAC in kills (418) and kills per set (4.45). Her .255 hitting percentage ranked ninth best in the ODAC, and defensively she posted 339 digs and 3.61 digs per set, which both ranked 14th in the league. A three-time ODAC Player of the Week, Bailey had double-digit kills in all but two of the 27 matches this season. She had 18 double-doubles on the year and 20 or more kills on six different occasions.
