Roanoke falls to Catawba, 2-0

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba scored a goal in each half and defeated visiting Roanoke 2-0 in field hockey action on Wednesday afternoon at Frock Field. The win improves the Catawba Indians to 2-5, while the Maroons fall to 1-5.
 
Dana Dolbow collected a deflection and scored in the 24th minute to give Catawba the halftime lead. The Lady Indians held a 9-2 edge in shots and an 8-0 advantage in penalty corners in the opening half.
 
Catawba would get an insurance goal late in the game as Susan Hearn tallied in the 62nd minute. Catawba finished the game holding a 19-5 edge in shots and a 17-6 edge in penalty corners.
 
Sam Vidal and Tori Shriver shared goalie duties for Catawba and each made a pair of saves. Cristina Scichilone had 11 saves for Roanoke.
 
The Maroons will take on Randolph-Macon on Saturday in their ODAC-opener. The Maroons are 20-17 against the Yellow Jackets all-time. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
