Drew defeats Maroons, 3-1

Madison, N.J. --- The Roanoke College Field Hockey team fell to Drew, 3-1 in Madison, NJ on Sunday morning. The Maroons dropped to 0-2 on the season while the Rangers improved to 2-0.
 
The Rangers scored the first three goals of the game to pull away with the win. Mariah Vietri scored the only goal for the Maroons late in the second half to prevent the shutout.
 
The Maroons were outshot, 17-6 and 11-7 in penalty corners. Christina Shicilone had three saves for Roanoke. Emily Hutson and Lee Sheldon each had an assist on Vietri's goal.
 
Elizabeth Law was a force for the Rangers, scoring all three goals including 10 shots in the day, four on goal. Lauren Fasano finished with three saves in the cage.
 
The Maroons will play Franklin & Marshall in their home-opener on Saturday Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m. They close their home opening weekend with a contest against Johns Hopkins on Sunday, Sept. 7 at noon.
