Johns Hopkins tops Roanoke in Field Hockey Action

Salem, Va. --- Johns Hopkins defeated Roanoke College, 6-1 today at Kerr Stadium.  The Maroons dropped to 0-4 on the season while the Blue Jays improved to 3-0.

 

The Blue Jays outshot the Maroons, 16-3 including a 22-3 advantage in penalty corners.  It was a physical contest for both teams, with 66 fouls called during the match.

 

Catie Farrow led Hopkins with two goals and an assist in the win.  Andrea Vandersall added a goal and an assist for the Blue Jays.

 

Brittany Schrack was the lone highlight of the afternoon as she scored her first goal of the season off a rebound with three minutes remaining in the half to cut the Blue Jay lead, 3-1.

 

Kim Stein had one save in her third win of the season for JHU.  Lauren Dukes finished with six saves for Roanoke.

 

The women will play again at home on Saturday, Sept. 13 as they battle in-state rival Shenandoah at 1p.m.  Roanoke is 5-0 all-time against the Hornets including a 3-0 win last season.
